Heading the Scholarships and Grants (SAG) Bureau of AICTE Institutional Development Schemes | AICTE Heading the Institutional Development Cell, mandated for augmenting the institutional level facilities to improve the quality of technical education- laboratories, hostels, student clubs, e-resources, conferences etc. Responsible for implementation of schemes like Modernization & Removal of Obsolescence (MODROB), Campus Accommodation & Facilities Enhancing Social experiences (CAFES), Scheme for Promotion of Interest, Creativity & Ethics among Students (SPICES); Grant for Augmenting Infrastructure in North Eastern Region (GAINER); Grant for Organizing Conferences(GOC). Introduced variants in the Schemes to enlarge the geographical spread of beneficiaries. IDEA Lab Scheme / AICTE Conceptualized IDEA (Idea Development Evaluation Application) Lab Scheme for AICTE institutions. The plan is to establish IDEA Labs (each costing about Rs. 1 crore) with partial funding from AICTE, as a common 24x7 facility for students as well as faculty- to convert an idea into a prototype. The objective is to train students in 21st skills, train the teachers for this and also create trainers to run IDEA Labs, with emphasis on working with hands and a sharp focus on maximizing the utilization of facilities. Mission REACH | TIFAC Mission REACH (Revance & Excellence in ACHieveing new heights in higher S&T education), a brainchild of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, then Chairman- TIFAC & PSA to GOI was conceptualized, launched & implemented by TIFAC. As the founder Coordinator, established 35 TIFAC-Centres of Relevance & Excellence (COREs) targetting excellence in industry relevant areas, each characterized by industry-academia-govenment linkages. With around 30% financial stakes of TIFAC, the COREs launched PG programmes in areas of interest to industry, most of them for the first time in the country! The Mission not only raised the quality of education in select areas through an impressive infrastructure and gave a model to be emulated but also produced academic leaders out of the faculty. Roadmap for Education/ Technology Vision 2035 | TIFAC This was taken up as part of Technology Vision 2035 exercise and delivered, dovetailed with the Vision document. The Vision document envisaged the type of Indians in 2035 and projected their needs and aspirations then; the Roadmap identified the technologies that would help in the realisation of educational needs. TIFAC was invited to make presentation on the Roadmap by the Kasturirangan Commitee that prepared the National Education Policy 2020. National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) | DST As Principal Investigator, under a project sanctioned to TIFAC, prepared the Detailed Project Report for the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS). Conducted series of stakeholder workshops and drew number of Schemes for Human Resource Development, Technology Development, Centres of Excellence etc for the Mission.
