Doctoral research on "Target identification of a small molecule rescuing monastrol-induced spindle defects" in the laboratories of Prof. Thomas U. Mayer (from June 2016 on postdoctoral fellow)- analysis of the molecular mode of action of the bioactive small molecule MAC1- characterization of the biological phenotypes of MAC1 in mammalian cells- synthesis and screen of a derviative library, structure-activity-relationship (SAR) studies,- lead compound optimization and functionalization: conjugation of MAC1-derivatives to solid supports and reporter groups- affintiy purification of interaction partners and mass spectrometric analysis of these- investigation of MAC1 with its biochemical targets in in vitro and cellular assays- analysis of microtubule dynamics, mitotic spindle formation and lipid metabolism- teaching and lecturing of university classes and laboratory courses- presentation of research data in scientific talks and posters at international conferences- preparation of manuscripts for scientific peer-reviewed publishing and participation in peer review of other researchers’ manuscripts- numerous collaborations, amongst others with Harvard Medical School, University of Amsterdam, ETH Zürich, EMBL Heidelberg- relevant scientific illustration work
