I am studying the role of tissue non-specific alkaline phosphatase in phosphate signalling. It is relevant for understanding molecular pathology of phosphate homeostasis disorders (such as hypophosphatemia and hyperphosphatemia), which affect the quality of mineralized tissue. Summary Osteoporosis is a metabolic bone disease which has been widely affected the women post menopause. Milk contains many bone active components including whey derived bioactive peptides which has the potential to ameliorate bone related deformities such as Osteoporosis. Therefore, whey derived bioactive peptide can be developed as an adjuvant therapy for osteoporosis which is explored in my PhD work titled as “Evaluation of whey-derived bioactive peptides for bone remodelling in the osteoporosis rat model”. Technical competence: Animal handling: General care and handling of laboratory rats (dissection, organ collection, blood sampling, oral treatment, intraperitoneal injection, subcutaneous injection and establishing osteoporotic rat model (Ovariectomy) and micro-CT analysis. Histology: Sample processing and histological examination of tissues Cellular Biology: Primary cell culture (Osteoblast cells), bone marrow culture, immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry, Fluorescence Microscopy (2D), live cell imaging, biochemical assays including ELISA and radioactive assays. Molecular Biology: Nucleic acid extraction (DNA, RNA) and protein isolation, western blotting, agarose gel electrophoresis, qPCR, Transfection, ChIP. Bioinformatics: Genome browser, TRANSFAC and primer designing. Show less
