  Ongoing Consultant Psychologist leading on the mental health response in the Middle-east and North Africa region. My role has been to locate, assess and vet local teams/organisations who would like to receive the Teaching Recovery Techniques programs. A trauma-focused CBT program aimed to reduce PTS in children exposed to war and conflict and supports caregivers in dealing with their children. My responsibilities have been to train partners on the program, supervise them during cycles of implementation, offer expert advice throughout the lifecycle of the project, provide therapeutic sessions to teams and beneficiaries, refer cases to other professionals as needed and report programmatic activities and financial spending. I have been responsible for growing our data base and conducting ongoing evaluations of projects in the region by training local teams on data collection, and thereafter analysing the data and reporting the outcomes to different audiences. I have been making periodic visits to project locations and working remotely to support locals teams and those affected by the war and crises in the region. To date we have helped over 10,000 children and caregivers in the Middle-east and North Africa. Show less

  Consultant Psychologist for SOS Children Villages, Germany. I lead a team of mental health professionals & psychosocial volunteers in North Iraq who were working with displaced families affected by the ongoing war in Iraq and neighboring Syria. My role was to provide mental health support to the team and anyone referred to me from the local area. I made periodic visits to North Iraq and followed up remotely to supervise and follow-up the team. I trained them on various techniques, building their capacity, and helped put in place HR structure to ensure high quality of work. I worked with their Monitoring & Evaluation team to set up databases to monitor and evaluate the mental health response there, trained the team on data collection, data entry & analyses and reporting.   Due to the ongoing war in Syria and personal experience with local groups and organisation receiving limited funding despite being the front line responders, we set up the first crowdfunding platform to help local humanitarians in war zones raise funds to support their local affected communities. I worked together with the founders to set-up the enterprise from inception. I was programs lead leading and managing teams. I was responsible for locating, assessing and vetting local humanitarian organisations. Together with local partners we designed impactful sustainable healthcare programs to help save lives in war torn Syria.
