  Cociety ist ein Zusammenschluss aus Initiativen für eine nachhaltige und gerechte Gesellschaft, für Umwelt-, Natur- und Klimaschutz, für Internationale Entwicklung & Zusammenarbeit, für Kultur & Bildung. Acht von Dr. Michael Otto gegründete und teils geführte Stiftungen und philanthropische Initiativen vereinen sich in dem Verantwortungsnetzwerk Cociety und wollen so ihre individuelle Wirksamkeit durch diese Zusammenarbeit deutlich steigern. Die gemeinsame Klammer der Cociety-Mitgliedsstiftungen sind hierbei die Initiierung und Gestaltung nachhaltiger und resilienter Transformationsprozesse in unterschiedlichen gesellschaftlichen Handlungsfeldern und mit Hilfe unterschiedlicher Lösungsansätze. Cociety als gemeinnützige Organisation richtet ihr Augenmerk verstärkt darauf gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalt zu fördern, indem Reflexions- und Resonanzräume für kontroverse, konfliktäre und die Gesellschaft spaltende Themen geschaffen werden. Es geht darum möglichst ganzheitlich, wissensbasiert und offen einen vorbehaltslosen Diskurs zu fördern, der vermeintliche Widersprüche löst und dazu beiträgt Brücken zu bauen, sowie gemeinsame Lösungswege für gesellschaftlich relevante Herausforderungen zu entwickeln. Dies beinhaltet neben dem theoretischen Erkenntnisgewinn, auch die Durchführung konkreter Modellprojekte.
