    • Professor for Physical Education and Sports for Peoples with Disabilities
      • Jun 2008 - Oct 2009

One of the greatest challenges during this period was to develop a project that would include students with physical and visual disabilities into the bachelors degree program in Physical Education. The Faculty was also faced with a problem of students who, after completing their credit requirements, stayed several semesters without delivering their graduation work. To address this issue, I spearheaded the creation of an online orientation system, which resulted in a 70% increase in the number of graduates in the first semester of 2009. During my time at the University of Paraíba, I had the opportunity to organize two symposiums on the Olympic Games as part of Rio de Janeiros bid process for the 2016 Olympic Games. The symposiums were supported by the Brazilian Ministry of Sport, the Pierre de Coubertin Brazilian Committee, the Brazilian Olympic Committee and the Brazilian Paralympic Committee.

As part of the project to expand the Universities Distance Education program, I conducted a market and education legislation analysis to support the creation of a distance education center in Germany. As a result, it was decided not to establish a center in Germany. The demographic characteristics of the Portuguese-speaking population in Germany made Cologne the choice for the pilot project. • Founder and Principal at Kindergruppe Coubertin e.V.
      • Jun 2002 - Aug 2006

The Kindergruppe Coubertin was created with the goal of providing a differentiated education option for children of foreign families living in Germany. The Kindergruppe was a bilingual institution with an emphasis on psychomotor activities, which went beyond the perspective of integration. One of the unique aspects of Kindergruppe was the flexibility of time and attendance. The Kindergruppe had no fixed holiday period; they were defined individually according to the needs of each family. Although the inclusion of people with disabilities in sports activities and Physical Education classes is a much-discussed topic, the knowledge in the Psychology area of sport is still limited to theory. Based on my practical experience, my challenge was to empower the students so that they could apply in practice the theories of sports psychology. During my time at the University of Brasília, I had the opportunity to create three projects that exist until now. The first was the Meeting of Professionals of Recreation and Leisure (ENAREL), which is currently in its 30th edition. The first ENAREL took place in 1990. I was responsible for the coordination and realization of the first 5 editions of ENAREL, initially at the University of Brasília and later at Department for Physical Education, Sport and Recreation at the Government of the Federal District (DEFER). The second was the event 24 Swimming, a giant relay that had as one of its main objectives the community sport, open to the participation of everybody. The event was created in 1990 as a practical activity for the students of Theory and Practice of Recreation and Leisure and the students of Supervised Training period. Since 1995, the event has had 25 hours and continues to be held annually. The third major project was the "Community Internship". The group of students was prepared to hold leisure events in the needy regions of the Federal District. The project was carried out in partnership with DEFER.Between 1987/1988, I was a member of the commission of the Brazilian National Sports Council tasked with debating the necessities and reality of sport and leisure in Brazilian society. The work group was responsible for the discussion and revision of Article 217 of the Constitution of the Federative Republic of Brazil of 1988.

During this period, I implemented a number of innovative outreach programs to support disadvantaged communities around Brasília, the capital of Brazil. My main compromise was to design and implement public sport and leisure policies aimed at promoting healthy living through physical activity. For the first time, people with special needs were a government priority in Brazil. Some programs created at that time are still in place today, such as the "Eixão do Lazer", which is characterized as the closing of the main avenue of Brasília on Sundays so that the population can perform sports and leisure activities.
