PhD Candidate Optimization of Thermal Energy Systems
-
Mar 2017 - Jun 2022
Conducted research focused on the optimal design of thermal energy systems, specializing in the integration of power cycles, heat pumps, chillers, and heat storage technologies within heat exchanger networks. Key responsibilities and accomplishments during my PhD include: Developed advanced models, performed simulations, and conducted optimization analyses of thermal systems to enhance their energy efficiency and performance. Collaborated on national research projects: - Conducted energetic and exergetic analysis of steel production through direct reduction with hydrogen as part of the German Federal Environmental Agency's (Umweltbundesamt) project "Exergy and Economy." - Evaluated the environmental effects of projects participating in the Environmental Innovation Program (Umweltsinnovationsprogram) of the German Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt). Prepared tenders for European Research projects under the Horizons 2020 Research Program, focusing on: - Solar thermal energy applications in the industry. - Energetic evaluation of energy flows in energy-intensive industries. Contributed to the academic community by tutoring the lecture "Sustainable Energy Supply and Rational Energy Use" (Deutsch: „Nachhaltige Energieversorgung und Rationelle Energienutzung“), providing valuable insights and guidance to students. Throughout my research, I demonstrated expertise in mathematical modeling, simulation techniques, and optimization methods for thermal systems, and actively contributed to interdisciplinary projects aimed at advancing sustainable energy solutions.
