Pure knowledge, speed, accuracy and attention to fine detail. Superlative knowledge of football, Spanish football, the player market and the dynamic throes of dealing in global sport. A great writer and author! Shouldn't ghost anymore :) Savvy, knowledgeable and a real Gent. Deal with Lee.

I worked with Dr Lee Watson as a co-author of a book chapter entitled: "The Model of Governance at FC Barcelona: balancing member democracy, commercial strategy, corporate social responsiblity and sporting performance". The chapter appeared in: Hassan D. & Hamil S, (2010). WHo Owns Football? The Governance and Management of the Club Game Worldwide". Routledge. As the title suggests, the chapter was a detailed case-study of the business strategy of FC Barcelona, and covered the period of Joan Laporta's presidency of the club - 2003-2010. I requested Lee to join the writing team because I was already aware of his exceptional knowlege of Spanish football, but in particular of the culture and history of FC Barcelona, as the latter was the subject of his PhD thesis here at Birkbeck College, University of London. As well as speaking Spanish Lee also speaks Catalan, and so brought a deep sensitivity to the nuances of the FC Barcelona story which a non-Catalan speaker might miss. Lee is a great writer, as should not be a surprise given his long experience as a professional journalist. He is also a very businesslike colleague to work, meeting deadlines as routine, and sharing his insights generously. I would recommend Lee to anyone searching for a highly professional writer and journalist with a deep knowledge of Spanish football and its culture, particularly in the Catalonian context, who is a also a generous and reliable colleague. I enjoyed working with Lee.
