Through this summer internship, me and three of my colleagues visited a Panchayat named Adyar in Karnataka. We took up assignments in schools in order to spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness and waste segregation. We achieved this through various activities like screening movies and documentaries, performing skits/street plays, paper bag making and drawing competitions. We also conducted door to door visits of households and distributed flyers imparting information regarding keeping the surroundings clean. Interaction with the Panchayat head helped us understand the waste disposal practices of the area. Show less

During the internship at Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore, I was posted in different departments throughput the year. This enabled me to understand clinical practice at length and efficient management of patients. Public Health Dentistry posting which involved going for Dental Camps in and around Karnataka was of particular interest to me. That developed and instilled an interest towards Public Health in me and helped me pave my way to make a career in that field. Through this coveted position, headed a charity organisation called DISHA (Direction In Society for Human Awareness). This post required me to organise charity events in old age homes, orphanages etc. Clothes and Drugs collection drives for the underprivileged section of the society was actively conducted. Essentially being in the Student Council of College helped me undertake duties of organising events, fests etc along with my fellow council members.
