There are various computational equations for the calculation of the required forming force for the radial forging process. In industrial applications, however, the calculated forces deviate from the measured forces. This is either due to different tool geometries, or to different materials used. The aim of this work was to systematically investigate the influence of the forming parameters as well as the tool geometry on the forming force that has to be delivered by the radial forging machine SMX (manufactured by SMS Meer).
