Launched in 2005 by the Department of Education and Skills, DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools) this national programme is aimed at addressing the educational needs of children and young people from disadvantaged communities. The Campaí Samhraidh or Summer Camps through Gaelic/ gaeilge provide a week for schools to creatively and holistically engage, through play and activities ( Physical, literacy, STEAM, Numeracy, Digital media , etc) students in Fun Irish environments. As national coordinator my role is to be involved in all aspects of the training, support systems, professional development, logistics, management, running and facilitation of these camps throughout Ireland, in assosiation with DWEC.

It was my privilege to be contracted by Hibernia College to lead a team of expert lecturers in the area of teaching methodologies - Gaelic. These included cross-curricular methodologies specific to language learning and teaching. My role was to design, re-design, collaborate, implement, envision, integrate and ensure standardisation nationally, including marking schemes and assessment during the Professional Teaching Diploma (PTD) and at final exam time. This was implemented with the Director of the PTD programme, the Head of Gaelic and under the watchful eye of HETAC. The inclusion, in an holistic manner, of all media and modern technologies also played a major role.

It was my privilege to lead the school from 13 pupils to a full stream vertical school with a dedicated second level Gaelcholáiste founded in 1993. Over the years, Gaelscoil attained National and international recognition in a variety of areas, in particular innovative technology usage and implementation.
