Developed a high fidelity, acausal simulation model of the vehicle high voltage electric system (battery, inverter, electric motor, motor control). The purpose of the model was to capture the voltage and current harmonics on the AC and DC link, in order to provide answers to problems seen on vehicles related to the high voltage system operation. Responsible for the electric powertrain of the Jaguar Land Rover Evoque_e: work package that delivered the traction electric motors and controllers for the three vehicle prototypes (EV, PHEV & MHEV) demonstrated at Cenex 2016 (UK). Led project on electric motor inductance characterisation using CAE methods: determine inductance as a function of rotor position, current amplitude and current advance angle for motor simulation and motor control development. Author of patent on motor control granted by the Austrian patent office (A50188/2013) on an adaptive salient motor control algorithm. Specified the test rig for the implementation of the algorithm. Worked on two main projects: 1. Research on a novel 100V, 50kHz AC electric system for vehicle applications. Main work packages included (i) an extensive, critical literature review of automotive and aerospace electrical systems, (ii) development of a physical high frequency AC system simulation model (iii) validation of sub-system models on test rig (iv) further analysis and design of the electric system and suitable electric loads and (v) system-level sensitivity analysis and comparative analysis between 14V, 42V DC and the proposed 100V, 50kHz AC bus. 2. Li-ion cell modelling for hybrid systems control applications (BMS). Automatic cell model parameterisation based on test data using Matlab scripting and further investigation into a quasi-adaptive cell model structure based on a Kalman filter. Show less
