Chris Schoberl was the first head of school at The Benjamin Franklin Charter School in Franklin, Massachusetts back in 1995 when the school first opened its doors. As head, Chris clearly demonstrated the core virtues the school was founded on: justice, temperance, prudence, and fortitude. His good sense of humor came in handy on many an occasion; getting this brand new school off the ground was a true test of stamina, resources, and patience! But the exhaustive work under Chris’ expert guidance paid off, and the school’s first year was a clear success. Today this school enjoys premier status in the state’s roster of charter schools, due in great part to Chris’s founding leadership.

Chris has been instrumental in the professional growth of faculty members at Fay School. His commitment to professional growth has sent faculty members on enrichment trips at home and abroad. He facilitated a partnership with a school in India where he and other faculty members visited and consulted. He encouraged travel within the United Stated that took faculty from a mile underground into the mines of Colorado and high atop Mona Loa while studying the geology of Hawaii. Chris implemented curriculum mapping in grades 1-9. He also believes in the principles of TFU and the importance of Teaching for Understanding. He is committed to the collaborative sharing of ideas and remains involved with NCISR (National Center for Independent School Renewal) and Project Zero. Chris’ passion for education is inspirational, as is his commitment to professional growth.
