Bridget was a delight to work for. Quite a few project managers fall somewhat short in the area of actual project management. They don't involve stakeholders; they don't establish schedules and get signoff from the stakeholders; they don't keep an eye on schedules and make sure everyone's on task. Bridget wasn't like that. She was one of the few managers I've worked for who truly made my job easier by removing obstacles related to getting buy-in from stakeholders, establishing reasonable schedules, and ensuring that all participants were on track. In short, she cleared away that obstacles that would have made my job more difficult--a signal trait of a first-rate manager. What's more, Bridget was enjoyable personally. She was easy-going, approachable, and friendly. You can't teach these things, really, but we all know that they're what make or break a manager. In short, I enjoyed working on Bridget's team. She was competent, reliable, and just plain fun. You can't ask for more than that.
