Postdoctoral Research Assistant
-
May 2017 - May 2019
This position was connected to the project 'People and Birds in the Southern Levant', exploring the bird remains from two Neolithic excavations in southern Jordan. The role required me to produce six internal research reports exploring the history of birds in the southern Levant from various perspectives. One of these reports required the development and implementation of a qualitative research project engaging the local community of Wadi Faynan in southern Jordan. Additionally, I was involved in the writing and design of a public-facing book on the birds of Wadi Faynan for tourists and the local community and helped to establish the local Faynan Archaeological Museum. Finally, I also developed, maintained and updated both the project website (www.levantbirds.wordpress.com) and the website of the charity Islay Heritage (www.islayheritage.org). This latter role also required me to run the associated social media accounts.
