Bio
Dessislava Veltcheva
I have met Dr Anusha Panjwani at University of Oxford symposium, where she has kindly accepted to become my mentor after networking session. She is my true inspiration, with incredible knowledge in science and leadership in the field. She has been excellent at giving me advice on progressing my PhD and using other opportunities to advance my career. After every mentoring session, I come out of it with countless ideas for solving my problems and have ideas to reach my next steps in my career. I am very fortunate to have met her, and I highly recommend Dr Anusha.
Anthony Wilson
I have known Anusha since she began her doctoral studies in 2009 and have worked with her on a number of projects, including the organisation of a public meeting on GM policy and the writing of a manuscript for a high-impact scientific journal. I have never encountered anyone else who combines her level of enthusiasm with such meticulous organisation and attention to detail. She is full of ideas while remaining highly realistic about delivery, and adds huge value to any project she gets involved in. Her communication and presentation skills are excellent and she is always encouraging and supportive of others. It has been a pleasure watching her discover her passion for science policy and the energy with which she has pursued her move into this area, and I am sure she will continue to be as successful in this area as she has been elsewhere.

Publicising and Communicating Research Lead (Chief Scientific Adviser's Office)
-
May 2017 - Jan 2018
I lead on ensuring the Agency’s science and research findings are publicised, communicated to internal and external stakeholders (e.g. policymakers). I work closely with the Chief Scientific Adviser, engage across the Agency, other government departments and European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to strengthen our science base. I work closely with the risk assessment and policy teams to review research proposals and contribute to evidence based policymaking. I initiate and develop strategic and research partnerships by engaging externally across the science and policy landscape leading to several fruitful partnerships. I lead on authoring the Chief Scientific Adviser’s reports including the dissemination and communciation of its findings. Further, I co-ordinate and deliver briefings and correspondence on strategic science areas and work closely with colleagues to support the delivery of the Agency’s corporate priorities. I also work as EFSA's focal point for the UK ensuring engagement and delivery at the EU level. These contributions have ensured trust of stakeholders in the way we use scientific evidence to drive and underpin our policies and advice.

I championed the good use of evidence in policymaking in the UK government. In consultation with civil servants and government officials, I developed recommendations on science advice architecture, evidence supply and evaluation in UK policymaking. These recommendations are for government to action. In addition, I contributed to press releases, responded to consultations and parliamentary inquiries, convened events, raised the political profile of CaSE at external events.
