As Acting Magistrate & Coroner (*District Judge)  Leadership of a team of circa five clerks, two court police officers and adjudicated in complex trial matters in the civil, criminal and juvenile/young offender jurisdictions.  Presided over bail hearings, contempt of court hearings, traffic court hearings and managed pre-trial hearings that frequently involved over 70 persons in the morning and in the afternoon sessions.  Ensured that the cost to the tax payer was kept to a minimum, especially in cases where litigant matters were funded by the state by disposing of summary jurisdiction matters quickly and fairly.  Acted as mediator to find the best possible solutions that were adhered to by the young person and their parents/social workers. I assisted CTED draft UN Resolutions and, overall, I helped them to remove or reduce passion from impeding their legal decision making in relation to the drafting of UN Resolutions. I was directly instrumental in having defective police search warrants and injunctions against client accounts dismissed by the Supreme Court of Bermuda (with costs awarded to the Bank). I was also directly instrumental in halting unlawful actions by and threatened by the US Securities and Exchange Commission against Bank client accounts located at our NYC Offices. For the purpose of bringing about greater operational efficiency of the Bank, I drafted written policies for internal use by the Bank and its Bermuda branch offices. Bank delegate at conferences on anti-money laundering, anti-terrorist financing and bank fraud. Prior to the amalgamation with/ buy out by HSBC in 2004, the Bank's legal name was the Bank of Bermuda Ltd. Post amalgamation, several legal functions of Bermuda Legal Counsel were taken over by HSBC Counsel in London. Prior to qualifying as a Barrister and to being invited to return to the Bank as In-house Counsel by the CEO, I was employed by the Bank as a Compliance Officer in the Private Trust Department (vetting Trust structures and financial statements to deny attempts at breach of trust, fraud and money laundering/terrorist financing).
