My vision: an inclusive Australian STEMM sector where our best resources (the people) are supported to do high impact research, and success is evaluated using inclusive and fairer metrics.I stand for:1. Advocating for a non-siloed, integrated science sector, with a culture of innovation and collaboration between government, industry, and academia, with diversification of people, funding, careers, and skills - leading to real-world impact.2. Building a higher profile, more connected STEMM ecosystem via engagement (e.g. using co-design and exposure). I will promote that science should be co-created with direct communication with end-users, industry, and policy-makers, and that science should be communicated to all.3. Promoting & embodying diversity & inclusivity. Our sector needs wider representation of different types of scientists & career paths. I advocate for accessibility, visibility & genuine inclusion, & making structural & cultural barriers visible so we can work on dismantling them.

STA created Superstars of STEM to create a critical mass of celebrity Australian female scientists and technologists - role models for young women and girls – and to work towards equal representation in the media of women and men working in all fields in STEM.

The National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) makes a measurable difference to the lives of older people and those who care for them by improving their quality of life and health. Established in 1974, , NARI is a national, independent medical research institute, which is highly respected across the aged care industry and research sector nationally and internationally. NARI brings together industry leaders, innovators, academic experts, and world-class educators who combine their expertise to influence and shape the agenda in ageing research and aged care. At NARI, I work as a research fellow and project manager. I oversee all aspects of large projects, including liaising with international collaborators and industry partners, staff recruitment and management, data collection, analysis, manuscript preparation and knowledge dissemination. I progress my own original research program in dementia care, nurture collaborative partnerships, supervise research students, and develop, apply for, and secure competitive research funding. I received the 2018 Professor Robert Helme Research Award from NARI, for academic excellence, as demonstrated in my project work, publications, contribution to teaching, and broader impact.
