Principle project analyst for this ADEPT funded report for ‘Integrated spatial approach using GIS for Slope Risk Assessment – The Roads Service Model’. Taking a temporary secondment from my PhD I was headhunted to work on an ADEPT funded project to develop a methodological framework for integrating the Roads Service NI Risk Assessment and Cuttings Register into GIS. This project involved manipulating the existing risk assessment register into GIS then utilizing the risk assessment framework to target locations for initial inspection to give an assessment of likelihood of failure. I then developed then methodology using spatial datasets for preliminary targeting locations for further geotechnical assessment. An ArcGIS toolbox was scripted called; Integrated Slope Assessment Toolbox (ISAT), a set of models within GIS to enable the user to run queries indicating likelihood of failure based on slope height, angle, geological and other properties. In addition to this, results were provided on a web server interface. This ‘Flexviewer’ is an innovative approach for database representation without users needing advanced GIS skills to view datasets. Show less
