In collaboration with the national human rights education charity Journey to Justice, this project uses the power of storytelling to upskill volunteers and create change in communities. It validates an educational toolkit and will run workshops that promote transformative engagement around solutions to economic (in)justice. It aims to better understand the contribution that storytelling can make to volunteers in identifying and finding solutions to important local issues. The project asks: what role does storytelling play in galvanising ‘ordinary people’ to take action for economic justice? Show less

Research Assistant on the Rights Lab Modern Slavery Project. The role required me to code focus group scripts and media reporting on the issue of modern slavery using a pre-existing coding manual. Working within a pre-existing framework enabled me to develop my ability to work independently but within the organisational objectives of a project external to my own that had a different focus. Working within a team of coders required regular review meetings to check the quality, reliability and efficacy of our work and to provide quality assurance of outputs prior to future publication, which is a skill that I have continued to develop within my own research project.
