Our group is currently working on characterization and optimization of organic thin films fabrication for solar cells applications. My responsibilities involve depositing tetrapyrrole molecular complexes such as Zinc octaethyl porphyrin thin films using organic molecular beam epitaxy under ultra-high vacuum conditions. We have investigated technologically important properties of organic thin films such as transport band gap and electron affinities etc. using a combination of inverse photoemission and photoemission techniques. Our group expertizes in photoemission spectroscopies and X-ray diffraction techniques which enable us to establish the relationship between structure and electronic properties of a wide variety of organic molecules useful for solar cell applications. Pump-probe experiments enable us to look into the excited state dynamics of organic thin films deposited on technologically relevant substrates such as indium tin oxide(ITO), Si(111) and gold.
