My role is to help NMS researchers fundraise for their projects, by increasing their chances to get highly competitive R&I funding, either at the national or international level. I have developed all internal procedures and guidelines of the NMS Research Pre-Award Office. I have also created training sessions on funding topics such as the FCT calls, La Caixa funding schemes, and Horizon Europe proposals. Lab manager of a newly created Molecular Diagnostic Unit (MDU) for SARS-CoV-2 PCR tests:- Creation and design of new lab space for MDU at Estádio Universitário, with Dr. Vanessa Zuzarte Luís. - Management of daily activities of a team of six lab technicians with approximately 1K samples/day.- Sample priority management and optimization of the processing pipeline (automated RNA extraction and qPCR).- Responsible for all the MDU Logistics and Communications between the different sample providers and the Diagnostic Unit, as well as, with the general public.- Responsible for the management of all laboratory equipment, including training of new lab members; basic maintenance; close contact with brands to solve equipment’s problems.- Responsible for reporting the results of 1K samples/day to sample providers and the notification of COVID-19 positive cases to the Portuguese Public Health Authorities.
