Managing Director & Public Racehorse Trainer
-
Oct 2004 - Apr 2008
Avon Thoroughbreds Ltd was initially set up as a trading company in bloodstock. In 2004 purchased a 242-acre dairy farm(Larkinglass Farm, Motcombe, Dorset) and re-developed the property into a state-of-the-art racehorse training and breeding facility with capacity for 52 racehorses in training and over 100 breeding and young stock. Raised the bar for the racehorse ownership experience with a choice of training fee options, complimentary access to an annually-leased suite at Wincanton Racecourse and bi-weekly written training reports for owners to enhance the ownership experience. Clients enjoyed many benefits, value for money and most of all a lot of fun. Major successes included All In The Stars (winner of the Listed CGA Chase at Wincanton), a debut success for high-class chaser, Midnight Chase and started the professional career of leading jump jockey Daryl Jacob, supplying 14 winners from 100 rides during his debut professional season as my employee. Avon Thoroughbreds also bred high-class chaser Carol's Destrier having previously successfully raced his dam, Barton May.
