David is an excellent communicator and leader. We worked together on the Boundless 2015 International Congress and I would have been lost without his creative input. David led the communications strategy clearly articulating to attendees what to expect and without his counsel and compelling writing we would not have recruited more than 200 volunteers to support the event. David is very technically competent, we used a wide variety of medium to promote the Congress and he was integral to the communication paths. He supported me write and produce hours of volunteer training and directed the filming of it to ensure it was accessible. I would not hesitate to work with David again.

David Giles is very professional and skilled in his leadership and knowledge with communications. He understands the technology and audience in a modern digital world, and represents The Salvation Army internationally. We've worked on many projects and collaborations over the years and always a pleasure to work with and someone who understands thoroughly every aspect of successful strategies and seeing them implemented and successfully achieved. I've always enjoyed working together and look forward to many more opportunities.

Responsible for all digital output, web/social media monitoring, analysis and online development at The Salvation Army's international headquarters, including more than ten websites and their associated social media presence. This includes writing, editing, photo editing and both technical and non-technical liaison with colleagues and third party contractors around the world. www.salvationarmy.org has a truly international reach of more than 170 countries, and is well regarded by peers (Christian New Media Awards). The role involves delivering training, support and consultation to other Salvation Army practitioners - particularly in developing world contexts. Recent work includes devising and implementing extensive online coverage for a high-profile international congress celebrating the 150th anniversary of The Salvation Army. The congress, running from 1-5 July at The O2 in London saw 15,000 delegates attend in person (with interactivity including a prominent Twitter wall in the main arena) and tens of thousands more participate online. Coverage was cross-platform and incorporated live blogging, Twitter/Facebook/Instagram/YouTube/Flickr content creation and curation, development and dissemination of memes, and live streaming - including via Periscope. I managed a team of twelve media professionals from the UK, Canada and USA.Other recent projects include an intensive fortnight-long journalistic tour of Salvation Army projects across India, producing content for print and online, as well as shooting content for a documentary film 'India - For the Love of God' which premiered at The O2 in July.Production for live webcasts is another skill developed through major events in Czech Republic, Germany and Scotland - taking responsibility for pre-prepared chromakeyed content such as name captions, song titles and lyrics as well as producing live graphics such as text summaries and social media contributions, occasionally vision mixing/directing cameras on live shoots.
