There are a lot of people looking for help and I am glad to hop on that train. And, Oh! the things I've learned in return! Perhaps the most important is that since your reputation will outlive you, make it a good one. I get better by thinking in the NOW. Here are some of the ways my clients keep me young: They need to gain control over their web and social media performance. The processes of their business have aged out and are now holding them back. They can't make the decisions vital to their success because of missing data, in real time. The workforce and customers are losing faith in their company because of miscommunications. It started with an upgrade to the website. Then, it progressed to documenting safety training, QC training, OSHA requirements, and business operations. As a documentation guy, the devil is in the details. But procedures are worthless unless the team sees a benefit. So, sales is a big part of being a advocate for Lean and agile project management. Wrote and executed the business plan in partnership with Mike Thaw of Radiant Communications. We cut a deal with Galaxy Cable in Nebraska to operate their fiber if we could win the SNDLC (Nebraska Schools Learning Consortium). We won it and lit over 1000 miles across the state and connected over 71 locations over a 4Gbps backbone. It was all about proving to the MSOs (cable operators) that they could be making hi-profit revenue with their dark fiber. As Director of the Professional Services unit, I launched a new business unit to add value to each and every network product sale. Making a profit from design, engineering, installation and maintenance was new to Anixter, and it caught on fast. Hit rates improved by 30% and gross profit rose by an average of 6% In addition, the unit was sold to Ameritech for over $150MM USD. As Product Manager for Broadband, Video Teleconferencing and Security, my team was responsible for thousands of products sold into the telecom, cable and satellite markets. Growing up in the printing industry, I was hell-bent on participating in the transition to digital technologies. I led the team to deploy the first application of satellite communications for a private company. As the Project Engineer, I was charged with designing, building, and maintaining the company's global voice and data network serving 38,000 employees in 41 locations in three countries. As the Project Engineer, I was charged with designing, building, and maintaining the company's global voice and data network serving 38,000 employees in 41 locations in three countries. It allowed the quick transmission of digital files that accelerated the printing process across the USA. This network of circuits supported the back office functions of accounting, transactions, estimating, project management, and the front office operations of sales, proposals, marketing, engineering, layout, design. We built whole networks from scratch and applied core and edge solutions to real business needs using never-before available services and technologies. We were partners in the development of 10-BaseT, Ethernet, Email, Digital Telephony, Video Conferencing, TCP/IP, Data Storage & Retrieval, Local Area and Wide Area Networks, the Web and more... Another project, the one that led to my love and passion for the broadband industry, was the first use in the Midwest of cable modems to generate revenue. The client wanted a high-speed data line between their headquarters and their factory. The phone company could not supply one at the time. I researched the available solutions and since RRD had recently purchased the Rockford-Loves Park Cablevision system, we decided to use two modems and build a portion of the cable plant two-way, very uncommon at the time. The service was installed in 1983 and it ran for twenty years, bringing the system $2,300.00 per month in revenue. Six Sigma Black Belt before they had a name for it. Extensive job engineering, optimization, and business process improvement. Show less Growing up in the printing industry, I was hell-bent on participating in the transition to digital technologies.
