I had the pleasure and honor to report directly into Doug from 2009 through 2013. Throughout, he took a hands on front line approach to understanding the tools we needed to be successful as well as the growth opportunities to develop. One tool in particular, which my team still utilizes today, provides a structured method to prepare for complex, crucial meetings that often involve several team members. The process gets everyone on the same page, with a deep understanding for everyone’s role and the overall goals for the meeting. Post meeting this tool outlines the process for evaluating what went well, where improvements could be made in the future, and charts the course for next steps, owners, actions and deadlines. We have found the tool to be equally valuable for meetings involving customers as well as in preparation for and summary of internal corporate meetings. Overall, Doug is a passionate leader that encourages involvement and participation in the decision making process. He’s trusted, and executes with the highest level of integrity. I’m a better leader as a result of my time spent working with and for Doug.

Doug knows what it takes to build teams and create followership. He leads with heart and actively seeks to build relationships at every level of the organization. Case in point is the exceptional Life Science team he built at Leica Microsystems before going on to assume General Management responsibilities. Doug is a great mentor and strives every day to empower his teams to deliver exceptional results.
