I worked with Douglas at Agilent Technologies and I recommend him as a highly productive design engineer, R&D project manager, and business development/customer quality leader. Douglas is a disciplined technologist. He drives to understand & manage the fundamental science and critical technology of any problem or project at hand. In this regard, he was instrumental in developing a complex flow-down of detailed requirements for a custom satellite-based interferometer development program. Douglas is also my benchmark for clearly defining problem statements and/or root causes in order to efficiently apply resources to solve a problem at hand. He has excellent skills for customer facing roles. He is a generous listener, adept at questioning without judging to nurture innovation, and a very constructive communicator. Douglas operates with a high level of integrity and is dedicated to doing the right thing. As a manager, he also has the fortitude to say no and propose/pursue alternate solutions when it’s the right thing to do.

I regard Douglas as a top notch technical manager and team leader. Douglas recruited me to join his team of engineers and scientists at Agilent Technologies. Over a relatively short period of time he was able to assemble a high performance team that delivered a very challenging precision opto-mechanical product for an important customer, earning our division many millions of dollars. I have always been impressed by his balanced technical and people skills. He has excellent communication skills and he is able to create a high trust environment for his team. He treats his team members as subject matter experts, and his leadership is such that individuals are fully empowered to be their best. He provides guidance, information, and direction in a positive manner. Douglas put together one of the best technical teams that I have had the privilege of being a member.
