      I Served as the Executive Officer of the Oregon Army National Guard. I was responsible for actions, coordination, and training of the brigade staff. I was responsible for increasing unit readiness throughout the brigade. I represented the Commander in meetings and conferences. I formulated and implemented staff operations; policies that insure the Brigade Commander's decisions, intent and concepts are implemented and sustained. I maintained communication with higher, lower and adjacent headquarters.One of my key tasks was to coordinate for the updating of our infantry fighting vehicles. I was successful in lobbing for the fielding of the most advanced model of Bradley fighting vehicle along with the most advanced tanks in the National Guard. Additionally was able to get our units forecasted as one of the only units in the National Guard to get the most advanced fighting vehicles (Tanks and Bradley) in the world scheduled for fielding when they return from Iraq in the summer of 2011.I played a key role in developing the 82 Brigade's relationship with federal, state and local authorities ensuring the Brigades ability to respond to natural disaster and terrorist events. The brigade was the executive agent for a Joint Combined Training exercise held in Hawaii called TIGER BALM 09. For this exercise I implemented new commercial software, ADEPT to achieve a more controlled and exciting scenario advancing the training capabilities and opportunities of the Hawaiian National Guard and the Singaporean Army. Additionally, I set up two major conferences between member of the Hawaiian National Guard, the Singaporean Army and my Brigade, directly impacting positively the exercise success.

      I was assigned as the Brigade S3 which is the plans, training and operations officer for the brigade. I Served as the Executive Officer of the Oregon Army National Guard. The 82 Brigade consists of four battalions; an engineer battalion, a medical air evacuation battalion, a combined arms battalion and a troop command battalion. The Brigade also has a separate rear operations center. The units within the brigade are geographically dispersed throughout the State of Oregon with distances of 185 miles north and south and 350 miles east and west. I was responsible for all training management for the entire brigade. I reviewed each unit status report, a report which is forwarded to the highest levels of the military used to determine which units to deploy in the event that the nation needs to mobilize the National Guard. Overseen the development of mobilization plans. Responsible to the commander for the military occupational specialty qualification of each soldier in the brigade. A soldier is not considered qualified until they have passed all required training for the career classification. Approved all military schooling and training request. Overseen the weapons qualification of all soldiers. Managed all training fund accounts

      I served as the Battalion Executive Officer (XO) and Senior Assistant Professor of Military Science for the University of Portland Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Battalion. The XO is responsible for insuring the proper execution of the commander's guidance, policies, directives and orders. As the Chief of Staff, I was responsible for coordinating the efforts of the staff and cadre to accomplish all missions. Second in command and for six months the commander of a cadet command battalion consisting of 100 cadets and 11 cadre with a command-operating budget of 113,000. Primary duties include management of administrative and logistical functions within the department of military science. Appointed as the property book officer, budget and financial managment officer and liaison with partnership university faculties. I was appointed as the budget and financial manager for the Army ROTC department within the University. Assigned as the primary ROTC instructor for freshman the first year and sophomores the second year and also the senior class instructor the second semester of second year and then the junior class instructor the third year and the class advisor for each respective class. During the summer deployed to Ft Lewis Washington were I was a platoon trainer for Squad situational training exercises. This position was 57 days each summer of field training were I took 8 to 12 cadets and while moving from point to point evaluated their leadership abilities as I ran them through multiple military field tasks. Each summer I evaluated over 175 cadets ensuring each cadet understood the tactics required and provided them critical feedback on their observed leadership skills. As the logistics officer I ensured 100% accountability of over $500,000 worth of government equipment.
