Contracted by a major insurance company to upgrade their prescription medicine management system to SAP Sybase ASE 15.7. This highly available terabyte-level call center system has thousands of users using dot-Net, Java, and "C" based DB-Lib applications. Tested, improved, and tuned several hundred SQL Stored Procedures in the application prior to the upgrade. Found and fixed a large number of database corruptions. Developed new flexible maintenance scripts for database consistency checks (checkstorage), update statistics, and defragmentation (reorg) that can run online during production operations. After the upgrade, my contract was extended to provide general database administration and application developer support for Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services and Sybase. I was the only contractor extended from the original team.
