  I am currently researching the role of visual perception in the locomotion of Rhinella marina as part of honors thesis. I am specifically analyzing the forelimb kinematics of the cane toad as it performs hopping locomotion. During this research, I have developed techniques to extract angles of elbow flexion/extension, humeral elevation/depression and protraction/retraction using high speed cameras, MatLab, and Excel.   I had the opportunity to participate in this rigorous 10-week internship through the National Science Foundation and the Southeast National Marine Renewable Energy Center. At FAU, I assessed the mechanical properties of shark skin in order to better understand how marine turbines will impact sharks. This internship developed my ability to utilize complex biomechanics concepts and laboratory equipment, as well as run statistical analyses. I had the privilege of presenting my findings at the 2018 annual conference of the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology. Show less

  In the Morris Lab, I assisted in the analysis of cilia development in wounded Zebrafish hearts during various phases of regeneration. This position involved collaboration with both other students and professors in order to complete research tasks. During this time, I was trained to utilize and perform laboratory procedures, such as aseptic technique and bioluminescence staining.
