I had the privilege of doing team building work with Doug Cress and his teams, both when he was the CEO of WAZA and the Programme Coordinator for GRASP. Doug has a true knack for hiring talented, creative, hard-working people and bringing the best out of them. He is technically very skilled plus he's a gifted people person - which is a rare combination. He is collaborative, able to juggle very diverse, complicated stakeholders and partnerships. I recommend him highly for anyone wanting to work with a visionary and get-it-done kind of professional.

Douglas Cress was a visionary leader. He steered the management of Great Apes Survival Partnership to greater levels and by the time he exited GRASP had received so much visibility both within and without the UN. Doug was very innovative and creative for example at UNON, we had challenges with monkeys and through his visionary leadership, Doug ensured that we had trash bin designated across the complex that were monkey proofs yet harmless to the animals. Doug was a great listener and always ready to offer solutions where applicable or otherwise provide suggestions/advise. In addition. Doug valued his team members irrespective of the grade or entry level, this made the team to work in a cohesive manner. Outside work, Doug was an open person and always extended invitation to his team to join him for dinner at his home. We will always treasure you Doug and of course GRASP misses you.
