  I work in the State Human Resources Department as a Student Assistant in the summer under the direction of the Michigan Civil Service Commission. I am currently in my second summer with the State of Michigan. My department oversees the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans, the Michigan Youth Challenge Academy, and Camp Grayling National Guard Base among others. Job duties include but are not limited to:Open requisitions and exam plans for job postings.Create the job posting including supplemental questions based on the position.Complete the initial screening process for most jobs posted within the DMVA.Process employee hires and departures.Assist in the collection and compilation of information for arbitrations.Create organizational charts for each of the different worksites.Work with work areas to establish or update Position Descriptions.Maintain documents in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.Answer questions from hiring managers with regards to the positions they have requested or employees that they have hired.Maintain contact with the various work areas regarding organization and the selection process.Other duties include filing, copying, organizing, and general office assistance to the HR Director.
