Dorreh was my primary assistant on both the production of my short film "Reverse the Wave" and "Operation Video Tag" where we mounted guerilla projections on high-profile buildings in London and Liverpool. During pre-production her insight and knowledge were invaluable. She was able to advise me on cultural touches that would make the set look more realistic. Also, without Dorreh I would have never been able to cast my film. Her knowledge of Farsi and her connection to the Iranian community were the sole reasons why I was able get any actors at all. She also explained to them what I was doing & what I needed from them. While shooting I threw her into the deep end in terms of lighting and very difficult focus-pulling. We were shooting against a deadline and even though Dorreh had never done this before she kept her calm, rose to the challenge and nailed it! During the guerilla screenings Dorreh was not put off by the ad hoc nature of the mobile projections we were doing all over town. She remained very flexible and both daring, and exhibited grace under pressure, even when we were stopped and questioned by the police. I have mentored Dorreh on a couple of other projects as well and have always found her intelligent, thoughtful and immensely reliable. She is a true autodidact and can handle any responsibilities she might be presented with.
