      Bridge aeroelasticity and road vehicle aerodynamisc using CFD; developed fully functioning flow-structure interaction modelling by coupling 3D turbulent flow analysis with structural dynamic analysis for bridge decks. Implemented in 2003, the work was one of pioneers using commercial CFD codes such as CFX and a substantial step toward in computational wind engineering for virtual wind tunnel techniques. In this work a block-iterative Gauss-Seidel method was first proposed to deliver accurate and efficient solution of flow structure dynamic coupling; innovative moving mesh control technique was proposed to ensure robustness and generality of solution process; codes programming in FORTRAN90 using MPI and PVM on CFX; flutter, vortex-induced vibration and buffeting processes of bridge decks successfully simulated with all the 18 flutter derivatives of bridge deck identified simultaneously using LES, DES and k-omega SST verified by excellent correlation with experimental data; the method and computer programs are extendable to aircraft wings, wind turbine blades and other large-span flexible structures ; leading author of international journal and conference papers; road vehicle CFD modelling for the European Commission sponsored WEATHER (Wind Early Alarm System for Terrestrial Transport Handling Evaluation of Risks) programme; relative movement between vehicle and ground was modelled considering at the same time the effects of wind shears, viaduct and embankment on lorry overturning in strong cross winds.
