As a technician, I typed prescription orders from physician's offices, initiated paperwork for insurance approval, frequently called insurance companies, filled prescriptions to be checked by the pharmacists, ensured the legality of prescriptions coming in and alerted the pharmacist and law enforcement if they did not meet all legal requirements, and sold prescriptions to patients through the register system. As the lead technician, I managed the inventory of the pharmacy, including hundreds of thousands of dollars in drug orders every week, I managed the record-keeping of the pharmacy for insurance and state board audits, and I managed the junior technicians by training them and ensuring they perform above the standards that the company has set. As a member of the management staff, I also regularly had to utilize de-escalation techniques to calm and reason with upset patients and sometimes interject in situations between a patient and another technician.

During the senior year of my undergraduate studies, I conducted research on the mutagenic capability of a known carcinogen after treatment with a proprietary process. I submitted an abstract and was accepted as a presenter at the National Conference of Undergraduate Research (NCUR hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma in 2018. I presented my research to a full room of students and faculty from various universities across the country and fielded and responded to multiple questions during… Show more During the senior year of my undergraduate studies, I conducted research on the mutagenic capability of a known carcinogen after treatment with a proprietary process. As a Lab technician for the Biochemistry Research Laboratory (BRL), I performed testing for industrial clients, including oil extraction procedures, detection of fatty acid composition by numerous methods, fluorimetry, and techniques related to DNA isolation and amplification. I also performed literature reviews and data compilation to help the lead researchers prepare for corporate research and development meetings.
