Secondary School: Maths and P.E Teacher
-
Sep 2016 - Aug 2017
Maths and P.E Teacher in both Glanmire and Carrigtwohil Community Colleges. Teaching a range of students from 1st to 6th year (ages 12-18). Teaching a range of pupils in inclusive lessons. Providing active and engaging lessons to motivate pupils to learn. Displaying a very positive attitude for pupils to follow. Working conscientiously as a young teacher in a co-operating work environment. Providing useful advice to both parents and teachers. Co-operating and engaging with my Maths and P.E teams. Organised a first year Maths competition where I entered successful students in an annual competition run by the Irish Maths Teachers Association. Coached both soccer and Gaelic football teams where I organised team buses, referees and matches against other schools. Providing weekly learning supports to students who were struggling with Maths. Worked with a Leaving Cert student with Asperger Syndrome on a weekly basis and acted as a scribe for his exams. I had to show great patience and act as a leader to this pupil. Show less

Maths Tutor
-
Aug 2016 - Jun 2017
I used the skills and knowledge I had gained from University to promote myself as a Maths tutor. I tutored 6 students who were studying for both their Leaving and Junior Certs on a one to one basis. I achieved great success with the students with many who were struggling to pass Maths exams before the tutorials commenced. Each tutorial was planned and geared towards the individual to maximise their improvement in Maths. Because I was self employed, I faced a higher number of challenges because if anything went wrong, I would be held completely accountable. It also further improved my communication and Maths skills. Going out of my way and delivering newspapers and food to old aged customers in rural Ireland. Reviewing and sorting letters for accuracy in deliveries.
