Keystone Berkeley was a leading live entertainment venue catering to both national touring and local bands and musical artists. Most of the well known local San Francisco bands and East Bay funk bands and spin-offs of them were regular performers there such as The Jerry Garcia Band in it's many incarnations, the Greg Kihn Band, Tower of Power, John Cippolina, Commander Cody, members of the Doobie Brothers, Hot Tuna as well as performers like Van Morrison, Stevie Ray Vaughn and so many others. My responsibilities included live FOH sound mixing, lighting design & operation and stage management.

Learned an awful lot under the tutelage of Elliot Mazer such as studio set-ups including microphone placement, instrument isolation, operation of Ampex multi-track tape recorders and interfacing with studio clients. I also learned how to build gobos/baffles and various forms of connectivity required in the studio. In addition, I became quite capable of making a good cup of coffee and became extremely proficient at playing pinball. I was sometimes called the bicycle repairman by Elliot.
