Performing Arts Lectuer

The role of Performing Arts Lecturer, was a full time role that I was very dedicated and passionate about, Teaching and preparing students for their BTEC Level 2 and 3 Performing Arts Qualifications was the main focus of the role but there were many other parts to my day to day responsibilities. I worked to lead on the course programme as well as all public performances; managing direction, choreography, music direction and technical production. It is through my experience that I have been able to satisfy a drive of mine to support children and young adults in bettering their experience of the arts, nurturing the growth and progression of the subject.Within this role I have taken on many other positions that accompany the main facilitation of learning, I am tutor for the second-year students, leading both group and individual tutorials weekly. I have also been very prominent in the student’s searches and applications for university. I am the lead Lecturer in our department to create and facilitate any public performance, open evenings, marketing opportunities, fairs, school visits, trips and so on. I personally ensure that these events run smoothly and are fully prepared for public performance; this includes everything from ticket sales, marketing to script writing and full direction and choreography as well as risk assessments and set design. As well as the creative side of my position I have a lot of other duties that I meet weekly, these include, planning, marking, assignment writing, auditioning new students, creating marketing videos for the course, promotion of courses, UCAS application tutoring, enrolling students, SV prep, IV colleagues assignment briefs, speaking to parents and DSA/EHCP- learning support staff -about meeting the needs of students in my classes.
