Peter Burgess

Dominic just completed a few weeks of project work testing a numerical stratigraphic forward model using Petrel. He did a great job replicating some clinoform geometries, and learning and demonstrating how the model worked.

Undertook a 5 month internship with Eni as part of the Petroleum Infrastructure Programme (PIP), exploring the Porcupine Basin, West of Ireland. My role includes: - Well analysis you identify the main techno stratigraphic units and plays. - Gross well log correlation to interpret gross depositional environments. - Synthetic seismic construction and well-ties. - 2D regional seismic interpretation and mapping, and prospect identification and risk analysis using 3D seismic. For my MSc thesis, I am undertaking a project alongside BP Angola. The project premise is to analyse the impact and distribution of sand injectites in a field offshore Angola, and what implication the injectites have on exploration/production. I have worked alongside BP Geoscientists and Engineers to help synthesise the project, which provided me with a great insight into what it’s like to work as a subsurface professional for an oil and gas operator. I undertook a two month research project alongside CGG and Prof. Peter Burgess. I interpreted seismic images to produce stratigraphic forward models of deep water clinoforms on Petrel’s GPM program. I undertook a two month research project alongside CGG and Prof. Peter Burgess.
