My research interest is Advanced Manufacturing focusing on precision machine tools and machining processes. In particular, my key expertise is the development of ultra-precision and high-speed spindles with fluid bearings. Currently, I am working on the project "Development of a high-performance spindle for ultra-precision machining of micro-structured surfaces" funded by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. The project purpose is overcoming the contradiction between simultaneous providing of high indicators of accuracy, productivity and energy efficiency in the machining by means of research and development of the new designs of high-speed ultra-precision spindles with fluid bearings based on an application of low-viscous lubrication, active displacement control and temperature control systems of the spindle. Research Fellowship Program funded by the Matsumae International Foundation. Research project: "Increasing of Energy Efficiency of Spindles with Hydrostatic Bearings". In collaboration with Prof. Yohichi Nakao I have developed design recommendations to improve dynamic characteristics of ultra-precision spindles with water lubricated hydrostatic bearings. I worked on thermal stability, energy efficiency as well as the dynamic behaviour of ultra-precision spindles. Research Fellowship Program funded by the Matsumae International Foundation.
