Dawn taught me more than I expected to learn in my first full-time reporting job at the Lansing State Journal. She has an incredible eye for details and I think she is one of the best editors I have ever worked with. She always gave thoughtful direction and was a strong leader in the newsroom. To me, I saw her as more than an editor... she was a coach, a mentor and even a friend. She cared deeply about the news we put out every single day. She worked with passion, drive and a desire to always achieve the best.
