I have known Diza for six years, in both a personal and professional capacity, as a former professor, supervisor, and mentor. In short, no single professor had as meaningful an impact on my professional development as Diza did. It is without hesitation that I can offer my sincerest personal recommendation. As a student at Arizona, I had the pleasure of studying under Diza before she asked me to serve as a student assistant for her pilot business communication program. Her keen acumen, gracious demeanor, lofty standards, and genuine commitment to the learning and progress of her students have served as a continuous source of inspiration to me. Most impressive, though, is her unique ability to adapt a challenging and often nebulous topic to an immediately accessible and practical pedagogy - something which is rarely mastered so adroitly in the classroom. Presentation and diplomatic skills have been indispensable to my work with diverse groups in the US government, international development and national security sectors, as well as my graduate studies at Harvard. But despite the many formative experiences and brilliant practitioners I have observed over the years, the best formal training I ever received in the art of communication came from one source: Diza Sauers.

I have had the luck and pleasure to work with Diza as both a student and her teaching assistant. As a teacher, she fosters an environment that challenges students to explore and refine their individual communication style. As a manager, she provides clear structure while enabling and empowering those around her to successfully take ownership of projects. She is an inspiring leader in and outside of the classroom and I attribute much of my current success to her.

Diza Sauers was my Business Communication Professor during my Masters in Business Administration (MBA) program at the Eller College of Management. Diza’s Business Communication course was unlike anything that I had ever experienced. Her curriculum was rich in both theory and practical experience. The simulation exercises were challenging and reflective of real-life situations, and these training drills were some of the most powerful experiences in my life. Diza’s class enables one to learn and apply a myriad of verbal and written communications skills. These skills then expanded into effective persuasion, conflict management and resolution, team building, and crisis management. Her focus on professional development and skills assessment equipped her students with a life-long desire to continually work towards improvement. Diza’s passion for teaching and helping her students was often illustrated by her willingness to provide individual coaching sessions. She made sure that every student who was willing to invest the effort in her class walked away an accomplished public speaker, a stronger writer, and a dynamic leader. Without a doubt, Diza will forever be one of the most influential professors in life.
