  In my second year at Van Leeuwen I transferred to the Wheatstone Project team. The Wheatstone Project is one of Australia’s largest resource projects owned by Chevron and executed by Bechtel. For this project Van Leeuwen supplies all stainless and carbon steel products for the onshore facility. The project team worked as a small company within Van Leeuwen as all elements (purchasing, selling, invoicing, shipping, etc) are performed by one team. My activities in the team were numerous, due to the double function of lead expeditor and assistant project manager. From visiting mills all around the world (Europe, South Korea, Singapore, Japan) to internal reporting, assisting procurement and client (Bechtel) contact. My key activity was to make sure that the mills deliver as per the contract and, most importantly, on time. Show less

  My professional career kicked off in September 2011. When I started working at Van Leeuwen for the Business Unit Offshore Structurals, which at that point was part of Van Leeuwen for just over one year. I was responsible for handling the full scope of inquiries from EPC contractors, Fabricators and Oil Companies for complex offshore steel packages. The activities ranged from purchasing to selling, handling contact with clients and mills world wide, discussing terms and conditions, payment terms and additional client requirements. Additionally I worked together with Project Management and the Finance department to execute the projects. Furthermore, I was closely involved in setting out a strategy for the years to follow. During this first year I worked with the project specifications from Shell, Total, Gaz de France SUEZ, BP, Technip and WorleyParsons. Show less
