As a Design Engineering Technologist, I analyse and develop designs for new and existing solar installation projects and provide engineering support for accurate implementation of the projects in accordance with industry standards. Moreover, I contribute to proposals and projects for solar resource assessments, energy production estimates, performance assessments of operating projects, siting, performance testing, feasibility studies, new technology evaluation, component modelling, and strategic planning. In addition, on daily basis I perform duties such as, • Assist with solar PV design optimization for cost reduction and performance improvement. • Assist with Interconnection design and equipment selection. Analysing energy production and engineering support during construction, system commissioning and troubleshooting. • Evaluating future technologies, preparing quotations, estimation, and tender documents. Conducting energy audits and meter data analysis and design solutions accordingly. • Provide technical advice and direction towards optimisation of solar power production. Perform hand calculations to evaluate mechanical stresses on the frame design. • Developing CAD models and lay-out designs for frames and solar energy systems as per the project requirements. • Establishing design in accordance with standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, and inspection according to engineering principles and safety regulations. Research and development of feasible solutions on solar panel re-usability and battery restoration, electrical cables, inverters, silicon, busbar, EVA films, TPT sheets and many such components of solar systems.
