Senior Broadcast Journalist
-
Jun 2007 - Jan 2011
After working at Radio Sheffield I moved to Radio 5 live as Broadcast Journalist and was quickly promoted to a Senior Broadcast Journalist. In 2009 I moved to Millbank as 5 live's political producer and covered the 2010 general election. I spent a year at the Up All Night programme producing and reporting on national and international news. I edited the programme regularly. I had to use my leadership skills to manage a team of producers and I regularly had to make difficult legal decisions about stories which came in overnight in the papers. I also presented a regular political slot, which included interviews with politicians. During my first year at 5 live, I worked as a producer for the Richard Bacon programme. I instigated greater use of social networking sites like Facebook to interact with our audience. I also regularly reported on the network. Stories included the Sheffield floods, gang shootings. Using my knowledge of Greece and the Greek language, I have frequently been sent to Athens to report on the country's economic and political woes. I have also reported on entertainment news, including live reports from Glastonbury and award ceremonies. Show less
