I completed my third MSc thesis at Uppsala University, entitled: "The effect of shifting fungal community structures on transitional stages in the fig-wasp mutualism". I collected samples of fig-wasps in Gamboa, Panama and sequenced barcode loci for fungal community analysis. I completed my second MSc thesis at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Gamboa, Panama, although my education status was based in Ludwig Maximillian University at Munich, Germany. My thesis was titled: "When you prefer someone who’s not your type: hidden mating preferences in Heleconius melpomene", and dealt with identifying mating behavior patterns in Heleconius butterflies. I was hired as a temporary research assistant during my bachelor's at the University of Connecticut to work on phylogenetics of lichen genera within with Lobariaceae. Specifically, I was tasked with DNA extraction and sequencing of barcode loci in fungi to help in the construction of a global phylogeny of the genus, Sticta.
