HHMI Affiliate since March 14th, 2022 Administrative duties: - Managing Caltech Center for Molecular and Cellular Medicine, including dealing with various vendors for service contract agreements needed for the equipment in Caltech Center for Molecular and Cellular Medicine. - Serving as a safety officer for Caltech Center for Molecular and Cellular Medicine. - Ordering lab supplies and reagents via Quartzy and JAGGAER Digital Procurement Software. - Preparing shipping documents, export documents, including proforma invoices and export classification forms. - Organizing laboratory events. - Ordering meals for weekly meeting. - Participating as a research mentor in Caltech Summer Research Connection in 2018. Laboratory duties: - Preparing bacterial culture and media (Aphanizomenon flos-aquae, Halobacterium salinarum, and gas-vesicle-producing Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium). - Harvesting, purifying, stripping, dialyzing, unclustering, functionalizing/molecular-labeling gas vesicles. - Culturing mammalian cells (MDA HEK cells, CHO cells). - Maintaining MRI scanners (7 Tesla and 11.7 Tesla): Refilling liquid helium and liquid nitrogen. - Growing and preparing competent cells (TURBO, Stable, BL21, Rosetta™(DE3), Nissle). - Bacterial transformation (heat shock and electroporation). - Expressing engineered plasmids in E.coli. - Preparing Mylar-coated dishes. - Measuring dynamic light scattering (DLS) of clustered and non-clustered gas vesicles. - Measuring collapse pressure of gas vesicles. - Mini-prep, midi-prep and maxi-prep (Plasmid amplification). - Sectioning, immunostaining and confocal imaging mouse brains. - Preparing and loading phantom agarose gels.
