    • Project Coordinator
      • Aug 2014 - Apr 2015

Quality control has been important in this role; ensuring delivery is on time and to a high standard. I have managed client expectations by communicating the status of projects and the window of results delivery. Working in this high-pressured reactive environment has meant that I have had experience of different business functions including finance and marketing. I created a press release for the company and distributed it in my own time. This was published in the Hull Daily Mail and the company’s internal communications. Show less

During my stay at Rathkeale, alongside the study support supervisor, I gave directed tuition to children aged between 14 and 18 years. My responsibilities involved teaching and motivating children who found studies difficult for various subjects including basic maths and english, sport and other classes. In class I provided assistive support for full time staff and also took a few children out for focus groups. I learned how capable children, labeled as under-achievers, can be given the right motivation and training. I helped children learn techniques to cope with their studies and formulate notions of what they wanted to do after education. In addition to the teaching I did I learnt a lot at Rathkeale, how to manage children going off-task by diverting their energies and relating to them, instead of simply seeking disciplinary action. This was a short work experience placement however it allowed me to build my knowledge of the process’ involved in administrative roles, within the office. I was also given the opportunity to experience analytical and reporting tasks. • Site Manager
      • Jul 2005 - Sep 2012

I have worked for John Hay since 15. Over many years I have acquired lots of experience performing a variety of tasks, from painting and preparing classrooms to car parking. Health and safety have always been key focuses in this job to prevent any accidents. In addition I learnt how maintaining a clean, tidy and organised work environment really facilitates the efficient completion of tasks. In my last year I operated as the temporary Site Manager, I had to take care of the building and take action in the event of fire, routinely monitor security and managed a variety of contractors on a day to day basis. During a large wedding reception heavy rain mean’t I had to quickly manage a large roof leak over the wedding reception area. Under considerable pressure, I had to liaise with unsettled guests, ensure the continuity of the event, while simultaneously locating and solving the problem. Show less

I have worked many summers setting up for the ‘Art in Action’ arts fair. We made bespoke floors and display structures for the artists to display their installations on. Because of a high complexity and the narrow time windows we were allocated to produce deliverables, efficient team work, coordinating and prioritising tasks is of particular importance. Our structures had to be robust enough to be used by thousands of members of the public. In my final two years in this position, I had the opportunity to lead the team over various tasks. This helped me learn how to motivate members of the team and revitalise the energy in the group after long, hard working days. I had to have a great deal of situational awareness and a clear understanding of working safety guidelines in order to avoid potentially fatal circumstances. Show less

I worked on both the shop floor and behind the tills managing large crowds. At the RFU store, attention to detail was very important. I learn't how simple tasks like making every hanger face a certain direction or the presentation of other merchandise effects the overall customers perception of a store. Appart from being a fantastic place to work in generally, I had the opportunity to witness some great managers and learnt from how they worked with and led the shop staff. Our conduct was very important and I learn't to manage customer queries and complaints here too. Show less

I designed promotional material for Probasoft that was designed to promote their customer relationship management software. I also had to cold call and email companies which made me keenly aware of how to liaise with people over different communications mediums. I learn't how to effectively represent a company to consumers by outlining their values and the benefits of their systems would deliver over the competition.
