PhD: An Investigation of the Effect of CO2 Sequestration on the Behaviour of Brown Coal Undertaking laboratory testing of brown coal samples gathered from Latrobe Valley open cut mine, conducting Laboratory tests and using highly advanced systems like Acoustic Emission (AE) and ARAMIS; reviewing, analysing and controlling the quality of laboratory test result. Engineering modelling and analysis using COMET and COMSOL Multiphysics of given civil engineering problems, especially gas flow within coal. Ensuring laboratory and sampling operations were carried out according to the applicable testing standards and that the instruments were regularly calibrated. Preparing experimental procedures for the High Pressure Multiphase test chamber; ensuring all written procedures were available and updated for laboratory tests and field works prior to the work being completed. Directing five undergraduate students’ research and supervising their thesis; teaching undergraduate classes, supervising experiments and marking assignments. Operating in the capacity of Geomechanics Group Convener; organised group meetings, discussions, presentations, extracurricular activities; etc. Managing allocated finances when ordering instruments for the development of the High Pressure Multiphase test setup.
