Development of the Flatfish Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), a project founded by Shell Company and developed by SENAI CIMATEC and the German Research Center for Artificial Ingelligence (DFKI). Currently, Diego is responsible for the software development of the vehicle's visual servoing tasks. His activities require knowledge of C++ and Ruby programming languages, OpenCV and Rock Framework (analogue to ROS). He is also member of the hardware-software integration and maintenance team, performing activities that require comprehension of Linux, communication interfaces, electronics and robotics related fields.

He was member of the team responsible for the hardware-software integration tasks such as drivers development, cabling, assembly and commissioning tests. He also worked with image processing on the evaluation of the performance of artificial fiducial markers in underwater environments.
